I am Alen J Salerian
MD . This letter is about my colleague Dr. Silviu Ziscovici.
I kindly request that the drug trafficking charges against Dr. Ziscovici be dismissed because of:
§ It's been more than 7 years
since government raided DrZiscovicis’ house,
confiscated his wealth and forced him to destitution and bankruptcy. These are
violations of his right to a speedy trial.
§ A national expert found the care of his
patients to be within the current standards of medicine*. A crucial criteria
for criminal prosecution of a physician due to medical malpractice requires
reckless malpractice. This observation alone invalidates the charges against Dr
Ziscovici..
§ Under the custody of the
government Dr Ziscovici has endured a fractured jaw, deprivation of vital medications, ICU hospitalization for six
months and near-death. All these acts represent cruel and unusual
punishment.
§ Seven years ago the government confiscated his family wealth
(some $7 million documented inheritance) and rendered Dr Ziscovici financially
and legally defenseless). These are egregious prosecutorial abuses.
