Dear Dr Frieden
Today Athens is desert hot.
The water is lukewarm.
The islands
across from this beautiful coast seemed to be hiding behind a thick fog
this morning when Gus (my two-year-old bloodhound)and I ran and swam about an hour,
my thoughts still stuck on several questions:
Why has CDC has been ignoring the suicide epidemic killing over 40,000
Americans every year?
Why does CDC pretend as if there is no war on drugs – criminalization
of psychiatry and pain medicine-which brought hell to many dedicated American
physicians, some 24,000 of them, created a shortage of doctors willing to prescribe appropriate medications for
millions of Americans with chronic pain addiction and psychiatric problems?
Is there a link between the criminalization of psychiatry and pain
medicine and the suicide epidemic and the epidemic of heroin addiction and
deaths?
These are of course serious questions your very gifted staff have been
aware of yet they remain deadly silent.
Please Dr. Frieden, remind your staff that Hippocrates matters for CDC .
CDC must protect human lives from all kinds of toxins , including man-made errors such as the criminalization of psychiatry and pain
medicine.
