Why Do Presidents Lie ?

  We all know many great men- some of them our presidents- have lied.    What does this mean?

   Did Eisenhower, Roosevelt Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton ,Nixon ,Bush lie for the same reason ?

People lie for different reasons. You may lie to help others that was what I suppose  Roosevelt  did  about Pearl Harbor ?

    Roosevelt Kennedy  Clinton Johnson had extramarital affairs . We can say they were dishonest with their spouses and not necessarily with  us. Bush could claim honorable  intentions when he lied about Saddam's  weapons of mass destruction because he thought  Saddam was bad for America. Johnson lied about his participation in JFKs death and declaring war on Vietnam possibly because he thought our national interests were better served by war.

Why did Brian Williams lie? Was it an underlying self-esteem issue? Was it worse than Nixon's Watergate? Should we ignore some of the lies of public figures or presidents?

I say we should. I still wish my president pledge to us that he or she is not going to lie to us about things that may impact our lives.
