Harassment of
Vanessa Mullins
Vanessa a founding
member of our organization, a loving responsible mother has been forced to a
shelter in Clintwood Virginia with false allegations of not being compliant
with her medical treatment.
Based upon a surprise
home visit by a county social worker she was declared unfit to have the custody
of Kaleigh her daughter, a high school student. The social worker also declared
grandmother Mary Mullins unfit because
Mary Mullins was not taking her blood pressure medications regularly. As any
good mother would do Vanessa agreed to go to a shelter and receive counseling
to better manage her pain. Vanessas
pain physician was not consulted.
The questions I raise are several:
Is Vanessa being punished for being a member of doctors for
equal rights for mental and physical pain?
What laws justify
government intervention into family affairs without any objective evidence of a
harmful environment for a minor?
How do ignorance
and prejudice influence the daily lives of ordinary citizens of Southwest
Virginia?
