Borderline: modern name-calling
How is it possible that some people-mostly
women-suffer from mood disorders and they are labeled borderline.?
It is disturbing that at a time when we're debating whether football
teams should change their names to avoid racial stereotyping we stigmatize and
downgrade people with imperfect brains.
Equally troublesome has been our collective silence- the silence of the
healers- for we make a living off of
people we insult.
It is time to trash DSM five for promoting discriminatory attitudes or demand that scientific terms and not
name-calling should define psychiatric diagnosis.
