Little-known brain discoveries

          Little Known Brain Discoveries

There seems to be a huge gap between public knowledge and scientific discoveries. The following 6
represent some of them .

1.  Many psychiatric disorders are complications of
unrecognized regional brain dysfunctions.
2. A robust prefrontal cortex is crucial for mental health and psychiatric illness , governs human  behavior..
3. Our diagnostic tools- DSM and Controlled Substance Classification- are flawed and delay progress in neuroscience.
4. AA and NA are no more effective than placebo and  they may be harmful for some people .
5. Opiates may have neuroprotective role against brain neurodegeneration and premature death.
6. Brain temperature and ph influence brain aging .Lower temperature and higher ph delay neurodegeneration.
The fascinating observation about the seven little-known secrets is that although individually they may appear unrelated to each other they are all interconnected and impact our lives on a daily basis.

This is simply a reflection of complexity and how minor and major influences shape our brains. In essence their significance can accurately be appreciated only in the context of the big picture.
