White handkerchief waving, Dr. Salerian poem

White Handkerchief Waving

Soon
I’ll be free
Soon
I’ll have wings
Soon
I’ll fly and soar
Above oceans
Soon
I’ll need no airplane
I’ll be a pigeon
At Taksim square
A lone seagull in Black Sea
A Hummingbird nesting
By smiling olive trees
Under giant shadows
My mama and baba of course
Shouting joy
My Aunt Sirvart
Her white handkerchief
Waving in the air
Not farewell this time

Welcoming freedom
