Letters From Vietnam For Peter Scott Dale

Letters From Vietnam
For Peter Dale Scott

Tomorrow
When I fall
Bury me next to Jim
The dead Marine
Let me sleep by a good man

Tomorrow
When I lay motionless
In a rain soaked jungle
By an ageless tree
Battling strangers
For my country
I remember Jim
Reciting JFK vision
No one should die for phantom wars
Man-made causes and wars
Not phantom are the dying
Blackened faces
Bludgeoned young fresh faces
Some old soldiers dying

Tomorrow
When I don't fall
I shall visit Washington
The JFK tomb
That infinite flame
I shall kneel
Say a few words
About my friend
Then visit the wall
For Vietnam
Repeat the same words
And a few flowers

For my friend Jim
