RHEA REHAN REYHAN: Brain science is no democracy

  There is an ancient Armenian tale of how  RHEA REHAN REYHAN , 3 young  girls lost their sanity. They were traumatized by  an imminent invasion of their village near mount ARARAT. The village was never taken over yet they never recovered.

     This  story reminds me of the challenges faced by mentally ill in America. Perpetual fear of not knowing who the enemy is or whether a safe exit would be found from terror.  

    Brain disorders are complex dynamic phenomena.  Treatment of brain disorders  demand great familiarity with physics, biology, psychology,  thermodynamics and eigenvalues-invisible influences that govern universe such as magnetiic fields, electricity, stress .

  Paradoxically  nowadays it seems as if anyone who can read   or watch television may confidently offer an opinion about mental disorders.

   What is equally perplexing is how in America millions of people with serious psychiatric disorders are herded to God and morality centered treatment centers to recover from their bad habits or behavior. It's even more informative that theY have unanimous support by AMA and APA.

     Could something like this happen to diabetics or people with cancer ?

    An unusual coalition of mental experts under the leadership of DEA dictate the nature of treatment for people with brain disorders  . DEA is clueless about brain.     The coalition  is irrational. It is an impossible task for students of Einstein ,Jesus, Moses, Freud ,Copernicus to jointly write a book about how to treat mental disorders.

 In general psychologists have little training in biology and thermodynamics. It is also true that a great majority of psychiatric social workers or psychoanalysts have never heard of eigenvalues or amygdala or hypothalamus.

   Psychopharmacologists are well-trained in biology, chemistry and physics but they are often forgetful about regional brain function and they often think and talk as is if brain is a potato and when you add little Prozac , little  Abilify you could make things better . There are of course the wizards of NIMH and scientific minds everywhere  but they don't talk, they lecture or write and nobody listens to them any how .

  So who is in charge here? No doubt DEA and DOJ have great influence for without their approval no Dr. can treat mentally ill. 

   No wonder we have 110 million Americans greatly under treated for chronic pain ,37,000 depressed Americans  killed by suicide every year and millions of Americans with severe mental disorders  who are diagnosed as homeless.

 Things of course can get better for American Reas Rehans Reyhans  if we listen to NIMH wizards.
