Immigrant dreams Dr. Salerian poem and image

 Immigrant Dreams

Every living thing
Of immigrant blood
Worries some
Who fight for
Mother or fatherland

Immigrants love
Making love
Making peace
Making babies
Red blue white
Why to worry to choose
Between old and new
Then one day
Come orders
From  heart
Must discover
Your genes
Love mom
But who gave birth to you

On the way home
Stomach churns
Belly says
Your’e pregnant
At airport
You fight tears
For a moment
Then let go
When you hug
When you smell
Biological mom
Strangely
You miss mom
Tinge of guilt
You rush back
 Kiss mom
 Smell home

Then you move on
